It might be a question of thinking how much of each one's ego are they willing to loose, in case love happens.
Yes. It is a question of egoes.
But...
Perhaps those who sincerely say that, think that and aplly that in their lifes are simply people in serious need for applause and attention, addicted to themselves and seriously uncapable of living without other people's flatter. The question of whether being or not an artist is fallacious.
On the other hand, how about asking this question instead: Should a human being avoid falling in love with another human being?
They better not! :D
First, because it hurts; second, because it makes you forget about the other human beings around; third, because it's too good to be true, so good that it... hurts.
Well, having all that said and (rarely) done, it leads us to this final statement: In the end, everybody hurts...
